Hullkote and PUMA Mar Mostro in VOR
#    What sailors have to say about Sailkote
1 Reducing friction is the key to efficiency. I learned about Sailkote during my Olympic campaign, and you can bet that I'll continue to have Team McLube onboard whenever we go racing.

—Ed Baird, Helmsman Alinghi AC Team, Rolex Yachtsman of the Year, Laser, J/24, Match Racing World Champion
2 Sailkote is a fantastic product. I use it on my Star, and on every boat I sail on. We used it onboard in the most recent AC...we lubed the mainsail battens which allow for a minimal tension adjustments and it eliminates any binding inside the batten pockets. Easier tacking and gybing in light air, and it allows adjustment for precise sail shape and tension in all conditions. Sailkote is a must for success.

—Terry Hutchinson, Tactician for Emirates Team New Zealand, Multi-class World Champion, VOR expert
3 No matter whether we're racing the Olympic 49er, America's Cup boat, or just out cruising, we consistently rely on Sailkote to minimize friction and help everything run more smoothly with all onboard systems.

—Jonathan and Charlie McKee Olympic Gold and Bronze Medallists, 49er World Champions, Luna Rossa AC Team
4 McLube simply outperformed antifouling as a hull coating. On ABN AMRO ONE we decided to anti foul the bottom and this was a mistake as it caused us nothing but trouble all the way around the world. We should have McLubed the bottom and appendages like we did on ABN AMRO 2... at every stop over ABN AMRO 2 arrived into port with the bottom in better condition, even after a particularly challenging leg of 7000 miles of high speed sailing.

—Mike Sanderson, Skipper ABN AMRO ONE, Winner Volvo Ocean Race
5 We had our hull and spinnakers professionally sprayed with McLube and really felt this gave us an edge on the racetrack with our speed and boathandling on our way to winning the 2005 Melges 24 Worlds.

—James Spithill, Helmsman Luna Rossa, 2005 Melges 24 World Champion
6 I use McLube as a protective coating for the bottom our boat. It has proven very effective at keeping the hull clean and fast.

—Sally Barkow, Olympic Yngling Class and Match Racing World Champion
7 I rely on Team McLube Sailkote dry film lubricant to keep all deck gear and rigging clean, and running smoothly.

—Ellen MacArthur, Solo Ocean Racing expert
8 We use McLube on our boat wherever there is friction. We coat the entire spinnaker and the spin bag. We use it on the jaws of the spinnaker pole and the ends of my spinnaker sheets so the guy will slam forward through the end of the pole on tight reaches. Before using McLube, I can’t tell you how many times we had to push the pole forward.

—Paul Foerster/Kevin Burnham, 2004 470 Gold Medalists
9 We've been using Sailkote for years, but now that the Olympic Tornado Class allows a huge spinnaker, we tested Sailkote on our spinnaker, snuffer, and even on our jib... What a huge difference! Sailkote cut the friction by more than half... Thank you!

—Charlie Ogletree and John Lovell, Silver Medal Tornado Class 2004
10 We used the McLube in the following specific applications to help us win the 2004 J/24 World Championship:
  • Entire hull to shed excess water, keep clean and repel oil deposits, dirt and grime
  • Keel and rudder to help shed kelp and minimize growth adhesion
  • All deck hardware including blocks, traveler and genoa tracks, spin pole end fittings....caution, do not spray on deck or pole itself
  • Mast track and mainsail luff tape, mainsail foot tape for ease of movement
  • Telltales and the surrounding surface area of sail

—Jens Hookanson, 2004 J/24 World Champion
